Edward A. Reeves received the Cullum Geographical Medal. Reeves was knownfor giving courses of instruction in survey methods at the Royal Geographical Society.Mr. Reeves work had impressed Dr. Alexander Hamilton Rice, who concluded that similar instruction should be offered at the Society. Consequentially, Rice founded the School of Surveying at the AGS the following year.
