The American Geographical Society acquired the Fliers’ & Explorers’ Globe. The globe was a gift from the society’s President John H. Finley. At the time of the gift, John H. Finley was the assistant editor of the New York Times. Finley had already begun toinvite early pioneers of exploration and aviation to sign the globe as they drew theirroutes. The society continues this tradition today.
