Scholar-Internship Program

 

The American Geographical Society (AGS) offers a Scholar-Internship Program throughout the year in its headquarters in Brooklyn Heights, New York.

Interested in spreading geographical awareness through blogging, social media, and mapping? If you are an undergraduate or graduate student and have maintained a grade point average of at least 3.5, apply to our Scholar-Internship program. Note: Enrollment in a Geography program is not mandatory.

During the Spring and Fall semesters, the internship program runs for 15 weeks with 15 hours per week spent at AGS HQ. 

The Summer internship also runs for 15 weeks with 35 hours per week spent at AGS HQ. At the end of Spring and Fall programs, receive a scholarship of $500.00. At the end of the Summer program, receive a scholarship of $1000.00. During all programs, we provide a monthly transportation stipend. When you email your application materials, make sure to indicate which program (Summer, Fall, Spring) you are applying for.

  • Unofficial academic transcript
  • Resume & cover letter
  • GIS project sample and write up (Max 200 words. Only send if you are interested in mapping.)
  • Course Schedule (If applying for Fall/Spring Internship.)
