A Conversation with the Chief Reader
Our new video series, A Conversation with the Chief Reader, is a resource for AP Human Geography teachers developed by AGS in collaboration with APHG Chief Reader, Dr. Lisa Benton-Short. The series is designed to provide APHG teachers cutting-edge content that covers contemporary ideas in human geography. New teachers may find this an effective way to better understand course themes; experienced teachers can deepen their content knowledge as well. Each video is around 20 minutes long – perfect for your busy schedule – and can be shared with students in the classroom as well.
In our second video series, Dr. Benton-Short speaks with Dr. Lee Schwartz, Geographer of the United States and AGS Councilor. Dr. Schwartz gives a brief overview about the history and current activities of the Office of the Geographer at the U.S. State Department. This video series was prepared in recognition of 2022’s 100th anniversary of the position.
Short Takes on Geography
The first set of 8 videos feature a conversation between Dr. Benton-Short and Dr. Parag Khanna, Geo-Strategist, World Traveler, and Best-selling Author of eight books. His latest book is MOVE: The Forces Uprooting Us. Drs. Benton-Short and Khanna examine key concepts from each APHG unit.
You can also access a comprehensive study guide to accompany Dr. Khanna’s book. Created specifically to integrate with the Course and Exam Description, the study guide provides big ideas, insights, and key questions to help you bring MOVE to your classroom.
