Emmanuel Adu-Ampong

Dr. Adu-Ampong is an Assistant Professor in the Cultural Geography group at Wageningen University and Research, the Netherlands. He is the Co-Editor of the Tourism Planning and Development journal. Dr. Adu-Ampong is currently developing a primary research programme on the geographies of slavery heritage tourism. The project is being funded by a generous award from the Dutch National Research Council’s Veni Grant. Dr. Adu-Ampong was awarded a Bachelor of Art degree in Sociology and Social Work. He received a Master of Science in Tourism, Environment, and Development from the Geography Department at King’s College in London. Additionally, he received a Master of Art in Development Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies at Erasmus University in the Netherlands, and a Master of Art in International Relations from the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals in Barcelona, Spain. As a doctoral student, Dr. Adu-Ampong founded the Tourism Research Network (TourRNet) and the yearly TourNet Phd/ECR symposium series.
