Raban Chanda

Dr. Chanda is a Professor of Geography at the University of Botswana. His educational pursuits were supported by the government of Zambia and afforded him the opportunity to attend Clark University in the United States. Upon completion of his master’s and PhD Chanda returned to his home country and worked for the University of Zambia. His career in academia began as a Staff Development Fellow at the university in 1976. He was appointed Chair of the Department of Geography at the University of Zambia in 1989. Dr. Chanda emigrated to Botswana in 1991 and joined the faculty of the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Botswana, where he would become Chair in 2003. The majority of Dr. Chanda’s career in the academy has been at the University of Botswana where he was promoted to Full Professor in 2008.
