Welcome, Teachers!
The American Geographical Society (AGS) is the foremost champion of geography for the benefit of society and convenes a diverse global community of innovators, thinkers, and practitioners to create and curate geographical knowledge, learning, and exploration.
Within that community, we prioritize support for teachers of Advanced Placement Human Geography (APHG). These dedicated, creative, and generous secondary-level educators bring our nation’s youth into the rich world of human geography and play a key role in making certain our society’s future leaders and decision-makers are geographically literate.
Our support programs are designed to help APHG teachers learn the essentials of the APHG curriculum with the guidance of seasoned colleagues, enhance the classroom experience for their students, and engage in exciting professional development by connecting with leading thinkers and professionals in geography and geospatial science. The Teacher Advisory Board
The GEI Teacher Advisory Board is made up of APHG experts, including former or current APHG teachers, who help guide AGS in our efforts to support and uplift our teachers. The Board aims to advise AGS on the resources we design and curate, and help identify new opportunities to develop supplemental content relevant to the curriculum. The board is composed of Dr. Neil Connor, Ms. Anna-Lisa Dahlgren, Mr. Greg Hill, Ms. Ann Linsley, and Mrs. Celeste Reynolds.
