AGS GEOGRAPHY TEACHER FELLOWS
Every year, we invite Teacher Fellows to attend the annual Geography 2050 Symposium at Columbia University in New York. Fellows have the opportunity to convene with thought leaders from academia, government, industry, and the social sector to discuss the major forces that will shape our planet’s future and how they can transfer that information to a classroom setting.
In 2021, we offered the Melamid Teacher Fellow Workshop. The workshop is funded with an endowment generously given by Mrs. Ilse Melamid, a long-time supporter of AGS. This endowment will provide for future workshops for APHG teachers following the annual fall symposium.
Teacher Fellows Initiative Update!
The Teacher Fellows Initiative is back for the 2022 Fall Symposium! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AGS hosted virtual symposia in 2020 and 2021 and temporarily suspended the Teacher Fellows program. But with the return to in-person meetings with Geography 2050: The Future of Food, we look forward to welcoming a new cohort of AGS Geography Teacher Fellows to Columbia University in New York City on November 17 & 18, 2022! What we provide:
- Free conference registration for Teacher Fellows
- Breakfast and lunch for three days (Thursday through Saturday), plus evening receptions.
- Special teacher-only sessions on Thursday morning and Saturday that will help Fellows transfer what they learn during the symposium to the classroom setting.
